Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a large bin that needs to be emptying every so often.

There are also models that clean and charge themselves which can be beneficial for those with pets or kids. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot after it has filled up.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean smart robot so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. After connecting we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its short running time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before returning to its home base.

It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top rated robot vacuum (read this post from Historydb) producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of customization options for your robotic vacuum cleaner comparison cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations docking frequency settings, and many more. The app is simple to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried and could be a problem for some buyers.

The app also lets you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily tell the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.

The app allows you to steer the robot manually when needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border, without notifying the edge. The ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
