WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrades upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an item level upgrade's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or item level upgrade bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or Item Level Upgrade quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrading upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade item path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
